Hi Everyone,

Time to share my #12PrintsProject February photo and how Posterjack brought it to life for me.

But first let me give you some background as to why this photo means the world to me. Days after posting my first January Photo post, my husband and I had to rush my father to the ER at Mount Sinai Hospital.  My father has been battling prostate cancer for over 20 years but in the last few years it has spread to his bone.  Just before Valentine’s Day – in a span of 2 days – my dad lost all mobility for standing and walking.  He was admitted into the hospital on Valentine’s Day and after various tests, CAT Scans and MRIs it was determined that his cancer tumour had invaded his spinal cord — some of it touching 3 of his vertebrae — which caused the loss of mobility.

We were all devastated.  He started radiation treatments immediately for 8 days to see if it could shrink the tumour.  So far there has been no change.  My dad came home at the end of February and life as we knew it changed overnight.  We had to put a hospital bed in the living room of my parents 2-storey house.  He gets around the main level in a wheelchair and my mom has to basically help him with everything.  I’m tearing up as I write this because the father I know that had so much life and was so independent at 79 years of age must now have help to do the simplest of tasks.

I apologize for this long sob story but as you can imagine, February was not the greatest month for taking pictures.  So for February’s photo, I have used a picture from my daughter’s January confirmation of my parents, their granddaughters and I posing for a family picture,  innocently “standing” in my family room.  Not realizing that this picture in reality would be the last image I have of my father standing next to me and that’s why it means the world to me.

Here is the picture as it was taken by my husband.

Family Feb Photo (800x533).jpg

When I went on the Posterjack website I decided to go with a simple satin-matte paper but got it enlarged to a 24″ x 36″ photo.  At the same time I got 2 photos done so I could also give one to my parents.  Yesterday I received it at my door and Wow!  Is it ever huge and I love it!   Now I will have to get them specially framed since they are so large.  I laid out one of the 24 x 36 pictures on my hardwood floor — so you could see it unframed as of now.

Tomorrow I leave for Hawaii for a much needed March Break holiday with my family……so just imagine what March’s #12PrintsProject image will look like!  I can hardly wait!

All the best and Happy March Break!

Christine xoxo
